"Mafdet" original drawing

Mafdet

Completed in January 2025, this A4 coloured pencil piece was created using Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils. It portrays Mafdet, an ancient Egyptian goddess associated with protection, justice and the defeat of dangerous creatures, particularly snakes and scorpions. Often shown in feline form or with feline characteristics, Mafdet represents the swift, fierce power needed to overcome threats and restore order. Her significance makes this artwork especially meaningful: she is not only a symbol of strength, but also of vigilance, safety and the ability to confront what causes harm. The detailed coloured-pencil medium supports the subject’s presence, allowing the piece to celebrate Mafdet’s elegance while honouring her powerful protective role in ancient Egyptian belief.
